Number a whole production in one pass. Set a prefix, a starting number and how many digits to pad to, and every page gets its own sequential Bates number — combined, if you want, with a confidentiality legend, the date and a page count.

A sequential numbering scheme used to identify pages in legal discovery — usually a prefix, a zero-padded number and sometimes a suffix, like ABC-000123. Each page gets a unique identifier so it can be cited unambiguously.

No, as long as the overlay sits on top of the page. Placing it behind the page content needs the file to be rebuilt, and links, annotations and form fields do not survive that — the tool tells you when this applies.
