Three steps
Open your PDF

Tick Page numbers
Open the Stamp tool and choose Page 3 of 35 or 3/35.
Place it and save
Drag it to the footer, or type the position. Every page gets its own number.
Two formats, any position, any style
Page 3 of 35— explicit, for reports and submissions3/35— compact, for footers with other content in them
Then style it like any other stamp: font, size, colour, opacity, angle, and a position anywhere on the page. Put it bottom-centre, bottom-right, or rotated up the outside margin if that is your house style.
“of 35” means the document has 35 pages
Both the number and the total come from the page’s actual position in the source file, not from its rank among the pages you selected. Number only the odd pages and page 5 still reads “Page 5 of 35” — the numbering describes the document, not the selection.

The page number is one part of a stamp block that can also carry free text, a date, and a sequential reference number — combined on one line with a separator, or stacked.

Is it free to add page numbers to a PDF?
Yes, while the tool is in beta. No account and no page limit.
Can I skip the cover page?
Yes. Set the page range to start at 2. The numbering still reflects real page positions, so page 2 reads “Page 2 of 35” rather than restarting at 1.
Can I start numbering at a different number?
Not for the “Page X of Y” element — it always reports the true page position. If you need a sequence with its own starting point, use the Bates number element, which does have a configurable start.
Where can I put the number?
Anywhere on the page, at any angle. Position is set by dragging or by typing a percentage of the page, so it lands consistently across mixed page sizes.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. It is opened and numbered by your own browser.
Can I number a scanned PDF?
Yes. The number is drawn onto the page like any other content.
